The Shield-Tek ‘Fleet’ coatings utilize a unique water-based polymer chemistry that ensures a durable, long-lasting, and protective finish. Similar to the ‘Versatile’ coatings, the ‘Fleet’ coatings feature a proprietary adhesion technology that allows for optimized bonding to a variety of U.V. inks and substrates (vinyl, paper, PVC, fabrics).
The ‘Fleet’ coatings are formulated to protect printed U.V. and solvent-based inks from exposure to U.V. light, water, humidity, and some chemicals. This makes them ideal for outdoor applications such as: Truck-Side Curtains, Vehicle Graphics, Billboards and Banners.
For our highest level of Fleet protection, we offer our Shield-Tek ‘Fleet High Performance’ coatings 4050 (Gloss) and 4550 (Matte) to attack the difficult problem of adhering to UV ink containing silicone and wax, and comes with a 5-year service rating. And, ‘Fleet Supreme’ coatings 4060 (Gloss) and 4560 (Semi Gloss), for extended long term and outdoor durability beyond 5 years of service.
Solids: 35% (Gloss); 40% (Matte)
Viscosity: 19-22 seconds #2 Zahn Cup @ 77°F
VOC: 2.00 lbs/gal (239.65 g/L)
Dry Time (1 mil wet): Air Dry @ 77°F; 30 min / Force Dry @150°F; 60 sec
Use as supplied. Spray (HVLP), Brush or Roller; production coater, rods. For higher film build apply two coats allowing at least one hour drying between coats (when applying two coats material should be reduced to allow for good leveling). Reduction with water 5%-10% as needed, do not over reduce will interfere with adhesion and difficult wetting of substrates. Substrate must be clean, free of oil, dirt, contamination. Maintain wet film at all times, avoid drying on applicator equipment.
